Bookish is a bookshop app specialising in art related books. It takes its inspiration from small bookshops, independent publisher and small art projects and it aims to offer to those with an interest in art the possibility of finding every book they are looking for in a single platform.

ASIDE’s logo talks through its simplicity. Reminiscent of a coin, it still has the materiality of a small penny in one's pocket, while symbolising a digital piggy bank.
iOS & MATERIAL 3
Bookish was designed following Material 3 and iOS guidelines. Here’re some examples of the main differences between these two design systems.
LOGO

LOGOTYPE
The Bookish logotype consists of two elements, the letters and the asterisks. They are joined by different typefaces, Syncopate (asterisks) and Sensation (letters). The Bookish logo embodies simplicity and minimalism and the asterisks - a typographic sign used in the lettering - make it memorable and recognisable.
PALETTE
The main colour is electric blue, which is fit for both native systems and gives Bookish a modern touch. In the Android version, it has been used in its opacity. You can see the different shades of blue in the second picture.

TYPOGRAPHY
Android's default typeface is Roboto and now, with the latest Material 3 design system, it has become more flexible and easier to use, thanks to variable fonts and their five roles: Display, Headline, Title, Body and Label.
iOS's default typeface is San Francisco (SF), a sans serif typeface that has an extensive range of weights, sizes, styles, and languages. Their family includes the SF Pro, SF Compact, SF Arabic, and SF Mono variants.
ICONS
For Bookish project, I applied the downloadable Material 3 icon kit while for iOS I have used the SF Symbols library.
